BARCELONA: F1 Final Test Results Day 3

by on February 23, 2012

Maldonado puts a Williams at the top of the time sheets with a quite respectable 1.22.391.  The Williams then, finally showing some pace.  7 time WDC winner and oldest driver on the grid also showing us he hasn’t lost a step as he amassed a mammoth 127 LAPS in the Mercedes and ending the day in second spot.  Sauber had a solid showing as Kobayashi rounded out the top three.  Other notables was Jenson Button in his silky smooth McLaren lapping the circuit 114 times, second only to Schumacher and feeling quite content with the performance of the MP4-27.  Massa and Ferrari did not put in as many laps and also had some small issues that need to be corrected.  It seems there is still much to do on the F2012, however, Massa did mention that they are seeing some progress over the last tests in Jerez.  Finally, we saw a kink in the RB8 armour today as the car stopped on track and caused a red flag to wave and stop the session this afternoon.  The car was quickly covered to hide it from prying eyes and towed back to the RedBull garage.
