F1 Final Test – Breakdown of Combined Times

Below is a quick breakdown of the combined times from the final F1 pre-season test at Barcelona.

Please note that not all drivers participated in all four days.

It is also important to keep in mind that the times below are not an accurate representation of the true order.  Aside from the fact that fuel loads were not published, there were also many components being tested which render the times inaccurate.

Two more factors to keep in mind are as follows; first of all, the FIA does not enforce legality during the tests.  This means that teams do not have to adhere to the same regulations as during the season.  This is why Williams was able to test their controversial exhaust without penalty.

The second factor, which is really the more realistic impact, is the operating temperatures of the tyres. The cooler temperatures in Barcelona meant that the Pirelli’s may never have been fully “switched on”.  This means that in two weeks time in Australia, we may see some real surprises.
